OFFICE FOR NATIONAL UNITY

The Government has recently established an Office for National Unity with a view to promoting and building a peaceful and inclusive society in Sri Lanka. The office is located in Colombo Fort and will be managed by a Board of Directors with a Chairperson.

We have vacancies for dynamic, experienced and qualified persons to assist in the implementation of multi-sector programmes and projects.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the undermentioned positions to be recruited initially on contract basis.

Director, Programme Development

1. Job Description:

• Identify, formulate and prepare programmes and project proposals In consultation with stakeholders. 
• Identify suitable partners and outsource the identified programmes and projects for implementation. 
• Prepare project reports and budgets for the identified programmes. 
• Facilitate, implement monitor and review the status of project implementation. 
• Liaise and cooperate with government authorities and other stakeholders involved in other reconciliation work in Sri Lanka. 
• Assist in the implementation of public awareness programmes through the media.

2. Qualifications and Experience

• Degree from a recognized university in Law, International Relations, programme management, Economics, Management, Commerce, Sociology, Business Administration, Demography or any other relevant field with minimum 5 years experience. 

Note : preference will be given to applicants who have post qualifying experience in the above fields.

• Experience knowledge in results based management and monitoring
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-religious environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationship both within and outside the organization.
  
  • Proficiency in English, spoken and written in addition to Sinhala and Tamil. 
  • Experience in developing project concepts and proposals for submission to funding organizations. Age limit below 45 years.

Assistant Director Programme Development (2 posts,

1. Job Description:
To Assist Director Programme Management in the execution of assigned functions and activities as indicated above.

2. Qualifications and Experience

• Degree from a recognized university in Management, Social Economic Sciences, Media Communication, International Relations, Business Management or any other relevant field with a minimum of 5 years experience in the field. 
• Qualifications and experience in English and in the usage of computers and Office Software packages (MSWord, PowerPoint etc.) and knowledge of database packages. Experience in handling web based management systems preferred.

Age Limit : Less than 40 years

Programme officers (2 positions)

1. Job Description:

• To assist Assistant Director Programme Development to implement project activities at Divisional and village level designed to create awareness on national unity and reconciliation among the target groups. To organize workshops, seminars and all other activities of ONU at Divisional and village level. To work with the stakeholders including Government institutions, NGOINGOs and the private sector. To form and maintain relationships with clients through teamwork.

2. Oualifications and Experience

Passed the Advanced Level examination with subjects of Tamil Language, English, Management, Human Relations or Accounting or higher qualifications,

Minimum of .5 years experience in reconciliation work in the field. Demonstrating strong oral and written communication skills in Tamil along with English or Sinhala. Age Limitless than 35 years.

Director- Media Communications

1. Job Description/objectives of the Position.

Planning, coordination and implementation of media and educational campaigns, as well as communication programmes promoting national unity and reconciliation among the citizens of Sri Lanka.

To write publicity materials such as press releases, notices, newspaper articles, leaflets, website contents and other periodical reports in English, Sinhala and Tamil. All other duties and responsibilities that will be assigned by the Director General,

2. Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in communication related field with minimum of 10 years working experience in the field of Media Communication, Public Relations and Journalism Or Diploma in Journalism from a recognized institution with a minimum of 15 years experience in the field of communications, Public relations or Journalism and O A high level of competency in English Language including ability to translate documents. O Experience in blog writing and web administration would be an added qualification. Age Limit - Below 50 years

Assistant Director Media and Communications

1. Job Description : To assist Director Communications to implement the assigned tasks as indicated above.

2. Qualifications and Experience

Degree in communication related field with minimum of syears working experience in the field of media communication, public relations or Journalism. Or Diploma in Journalism from a recognized institution with a minimum pf10 years working experience in the field of communication, public relations or Journalism and Competency in English including writing and translating documents. Experience in working with social media. Age Limit - below 40 years
